The design of LifeStyles facilitates the integration of these various services. “The creation of true medical integration through the design process can achieve tremendous efficiencies and patient/member satisfaction,” says Richard Moore, senior vice president of regional development. Instead of being isolated facilities with only a roof in common, the building design facilitates circulation and interaction within the two-story structure. Members can often see from one side of the building to the other. Abundant use of natural light and sloped roofs also give the center an open and comfortable feel. The focus of LifeStyles is the central fitness area, where much of the physical therapy and training takes place. Unlike some gyms that have separate areas for strength and cardiovascular conditioning, this facility has six different mini-training areas with both types of equipment — a design that spreads out patients and permits better space utilization.
