As she matures, respect her need for privacy — Be sensitive to your daughter’s need to separate from you as she grows up. If she doesn’t gradually begin to distance from you she will never be able to leave home. Be sensitive to her cues, as she attempts to set healthy boundaries with you. Listen to who your daughter is, not whom you want her to be — It’s a natural tendency for us to want our girls to make all of the “right” choices because, of course, we have all of the right answers. Unfortunately, what is right for you may not be best for your daughter. Although it’s difficult, respect your daughter’s inner wisdom as she chooses interests and begins to establish her own identity.
