I love WordPress 2.7!

It’s official: I’m in love. The good news? The object of my affection loves me back!

Version 2.7 took a small period of adjustment, but it’s been worth every peek into every nook and cranny… I love the quick edit, the ability to approve, delete or spam comments without extra clicks… everything is so… available!

And I just installed a plugin from the plugin page!! You can’t beat that with a stick. Upgrades are also done from within now…
Of course, these do not work if you can’t FTP into your server, like my other site.

Other amazing attributes of this version:
Keyboard shortcuts for comments that I don’t take advantage of because, frankly, I’m afraid of the learning curve. I suck and House is always on. You understand.

Media can be uploaded to the Gallery without needing to write a post.

You can customize the write page and the dashboard.

There’s much, much more. The official site, if you’re thinking of WordPress, is a font of information.

NetTuts also has some great images of some of the new features.

Backup Outlook folders

vistaMy husband and I were searching for an easy way to back up our Outlook files without too much hassle and ran across an add in from Microsoft appropriately called ‘Personal Folders Backup’.

It’s a smart, easy little thingy that will back up your personal folders at regular intervals for Outlook 2002, 2003 and 2007. Hubby then transfers his data to one of this thumb drives. Takes all of 5 seconds!

Why this little utility hasn’t been integrated with Outlook is beyond me. Leave it to Microsoft to do things the hard way.

Oh, as an FYI: the download requires authentication.

Last, best line of defense

When it comes to the subject of self defense I’m very proactive. I see weapons everywhere, from keys to fire extinguishers. Almost anything can be used to defend yourself. And I carry this philosophy with me everywhere: when I’m driving, I constantly look for ‘outs’ so I can escape if something untoward should happen. I’ve been doing it so long it’s second nature now. Is there a median? Grassy? Wet? What about the shoulder?

Call me paranoid, but my primal nature is obviously geared for survival. My dog would alert to a problem, if she’s with me… and also defend me should it come to that. But I don’t depend on her and would rather not put her in harm’s way at all. When I think of self defense products, one thing in particular comes to mind: my personal weapon, a Sig Sauer P230.

We have other firearms, but this is mine. Hubby has one that matches it, we just fell in love with it that much. It’s never misfired, never let me down. And I hope that should it ever need to be used anywhere but the range… it never will.

It’s not my first line of defense, but it’s my last, best line of defense.
