How I manage loss

My best friend’s Mom passed away Monday… and in mourning I turned to Crate and Barrel.

I bought a set of these glasses -a deal at 12 for 30!- and a set of sandstone coasters, also on sale.

I think my subconscious is telling me that I should be drinking my way through my grief instead of shopping. I should have ordered Martini glasses…

The Creative Dream

I’ve neglected this space, but there’s just been no time at all. When I did have a few minutes the blog wasn’t the first thing on my mind. I know you can relate; doesn’t matter who you are, life gets busy and something has to give.

Working on my daughter’s site has taken up a few days lately… this is her new space:

The Creative Dream

She’s… creative.

Thank God my husband comes home tonight. In the meantime, I need a nap.

Let Me Lean

WHEN I’M 100, IF I LEAN A LITTLE … LET ME!

The family wheeled Grandma out on the lawn, in her wheelchair, where the activities for her 100th birthday were taking place. Grandma couldn’t speak very well, but she could write notes when she needed to communicate.

After a short time out on the lawn, Grandma started leaning off to the right, so some family members grabbed her, straightened her up, and stuffed pillows on her right.
A short time later, she started leaning off to her left, so again the family grabbed her and stuffed pillows on her left.

Soon she started leaning forward, so the family members again grabbed her, then tied a pillowcase around her waist to hold her up.

A nephew who arrived late came up to Grandma and said, ‘Hi, Grandma, you’re looking good! How are they treating you?’

Grandma took out her little notepad and slowly wrote a note to the nephew…’They won’t let me fart.’

Steamroller

This is how I feel this morning…

James Taylor is the single greatest singer/songwriter of the 20th century and I fell for him in 1971… While I listen to all kinds of music -from rap to classical- if I have a ‘need’, I always go back to Sweet Baby James… and I needed to hear Steamroller Blues this morning…
